Quick Advice for the Husband or Boyfriend

    By Jeff | June 30, 2007

As I found out earlier today, some observations should not be made public, much less spoken out loud. Whether it’s true or not, do not –I repeat do not – say something along the lines of: “Matthew, come here. Momma is in a bad mood.” Apparently, those exact words conjure up an evil spell. While I feel that I was simply making an observation and trying to prevent my son from sustaining any physical harm, I ended up turning a bad mood into a pissed off. Lesson learned.

Next time, if I have my wits about me, I’ll simply get away from the computer, pick my son up, gently take him to the couch in the living room, turn on a cartoon, give my wife a loving kiss, and help her with the dishes. That would have been a much better course of action and would have resulted in a friendlier exchange. Not to mention the fact that I would have avoided the evil-eyed stare from Hades.

So if you’re ever faced in a similar situation in the future, I highly advise you to be gentle, kind, and loving to help your mate cope. Either that, or just get the hell out of the house!
