My Boys Can Swim! (hopefully faster than my girls)
By Jeff | August 3, 2007
Well boys and girls, it appears that there is a little thinkbox in the oven. Now that all of our closest relatives and friends have heard the news, I wanted to share with my blogging community that baby number two is on its way. I was fortunate enough to have my boys swim faster than my girls with my first-born son, so let’s hope the same happens again. Hopefully, I have trained them well. So curses to all of you who have wished upon me to have a girl.
I don’t have anything against girls. I mean, obviously I married one. It’s just that boys are easier to raise (at least in my opinion, and since I’m doing the raising my opinion counts more than yours does) and during those preteen years and beyond, girls can be… um, how shall I put this, well, they tend to act like know-it-all-biatches. Plus, there’s the whole dating scene that would get on my nerves. I’m not that old and I can’t stand the sagging pants, so who knows what’s going to be trendy among the young punks that may try to pick her up. I already have boy toys (not including my own) so it would also be fairly cost effective to produce another boy. It just makes sense for us to have another boy.
With our first son, my wife had an agreement that if it was a boy, I would take care of his first name and she would take care of his middle and vice versa if it was a girl. Well, obviously, regardless of what the sex turns out to be this time, she will have the first name and I’ll take care of the middle name. Since it will be HIS middle name, I do feel that I have a little freedom with picking the name. I could treat it like a nick-name almost. Things like: Tiger, Aurelias, Maximus, Ninja, Optimus Prime and Tank come to mind. I’m only being slightly facetious as it really depends on what first name my wife chooses and what I determine will sound best with it. (No pressure, Julie..
)
Here are the sonogram pictures that we were given. Of course, the baby is a little peanut and if you can find the white cursor, it’s pointing at little baby thinkbox. We are at about 8 weeks now. We should find out the sex in about 12 weeks. The following info was taken from eMedTV.com:
At 8 weeks pregnant, your baby now has webbed fingers and toes, and is about the size of a pumpkin seed. Additional developments in your baby include the formation of eyelids, the tongue, and intestines. When you are 8 weeks pregnant, you will most likely have your first prenatal doctor’s visit. Symptoms that may occur during the eighth week of pregnancy include acne, fatigue, and an expanding waistline.
As your baby’s heart becomes more fully developed, it will pump at approximately 150 beats a minute, which is about twice the usual adult rate. The following developments also typically occur during the eighth week of pregnancy:
- The leg buds divide into thigh, leg, and foot units
- The arm buds divide into hand, arm, elbow, and shoulder units
- The arms and legs move
- Cartilage and bones begin to form
- Eyelids begin to form
- The ears, upper lip, and tip of the nose become recognizable
- The tongue begins to develop
- The intestines grow so long that they start protruding into the umbilical cord
- Teeth develop under the gums
- The gonads (testes or ovaries) are forming
- Nerve fibers connect the olfactory lobe of the brain, laying groundwork for the sense of smell.

I love the fact that you are so optimistic about having a boy… It will be interesting to see how different your blog will be if and when we do; infact, find out it is a girl. Love you

Congrats! That is SO exciting! You are too funny with the names, surely Julie will object to Optimus Prime or ninja! Your site looks great! I have a lot of work ahead of me! no one tells you how much work it is to set-up a blog from scratch! Thanks for adding my link to your matrix, Congrats on the new domain and DOUBLE Congrats on the baby! Good luck friend!

A little “thinkbox in the oven.” Dude, that’s classic. I think it should be a girl because if I have to do it (and at this point, there’s no going back for me) then you should have to do it as well. Either way, though, I’m voting for Optimus Prime as the middle name(s). Or, and Julie I’m just putting this out there, maybe the first and middle names…? You down with OPB?
