Western All Stars of Lubbock, TX Win Again
By Jeff | August 19, 2007

The little league team from Texas does it again. Same result, different catalysts. Once again we have a dominating pitching performance and a multi-home run hitter. Bryndan Arredondo (left) went deep twice with a 2 run home run in the first inning and a solo shot later on to help fuel Western’s offense. Not to be undone, lefty pitcher Zane Ancell (right) dominated for 5 1/3 innings as well as belting an impressive 2 run homer of his own. Tyler Thorne pitched briefly as Arizona began to threaten with runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out, but Taylor Bridges came in to finish the game with back to back strikeouts as Texas defeated Arizona by a score of 5-1.
There is no doubt that the pitching of this West Texas team is going to be a force to be reckoned with. Garrett Williams is definitely the ace of the squad, but Zane Ancell proved he can hold his own as well. Taylor Bridges appears to have nasty stuff too, but has been limited due to injuries. All three are lefty pitchers and will factor in huge during this year’s Little League World Series.
Next game will be on Tuesday at 3 pm (Central) against Salisbury, MD.
Here are some highlights of the past two games:
