Trans-Siberian Orchestra Rocks the House!
By Jeff | November 17, 2007

I recently had the honor and privilege of attending a Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert. Wow!
I somewhat surprised my wife after I bought the tickets not having any earthly idea of exactly what I had done. I expected something along the lines of what any average person would expect when they hear the word orchestra. I envisioned men and women dressed in suits sitting in chairs playing beautiful music. My wife was in the high school band, and like most women, has shared an interest and affinity for plays, balets, etc. blah blah blah.
So, when I heard the advertisement on the radio, I felt this was something that would be fun. I had heard the music before and knew that I could survive it and enjoy a one-on-one date with my wife. And survive it, I did.
The show is absolutely amazing and it was n
othing at all what I expected. It’s really indescribable. There’s awesome music! An awesome light show! Awesome pyro-technics! Even during the finale, we felt a ton of heat from flame blasts in the center of the Arena. It was crazy because we really weren’t that close. There are also lazer lights that are so strong, you feel like you can just grab the beams and hold on. Awesome effects. Other times, the lights are so bright that you can’t even keep your eyes open. There’s no leaving your seat because you don’t want to miss what might come next. (Make sure to take care of all bathroom and concession breaks before the show.)
Check out the tour dates and if you are within any kind of reasonable driving distance, get tickets! Get the tickets and don’t look back! You will enjoy every minute of the two and a half hour show - well, except for maybe the narration part. In between songs, there is some narration (which I’m sure is to kill some time for the musicians so they can get ready for the next song) told in the form of a poem that is a little hard to follow. You get the gist of the story as you hear it, but it doesn’t quite flow right. But that’s just being a little ticky-tacky. The Show will amaze you!
Here is the best example I could find of a published online video. I’m sure you can imagine that they frown upon this sort of thing so it’s hard to find a good one. Regardless, this video does the concert practically zero justice.

Looks like a good time. I had a similar experience with the Blue Man Group. I don’t know if you’ve seen it but it was really entertainment at its best. I recommend you check it out.
