How I Got My Gangsta Lean from Blogging Zoom
By Jeff | December 7, 2007
Well, I guess it’s my turn to proclaim the greatness that is now known as Blogging Zoom. I will have to admit that I was a little skeptical at first. I mean, what kind of name is Blogging Zoom anyway and how much can anyone really change the way social networking sites are designed? I like the concept of the Zooms, but Blogging Zoom didn’t exactly catch my eye in the beginning. But you know what, opinions can change drastically - especially when it’s backed by performance. Besides, among us Bloggers, it’s becoming better known by BZ and what, I ask you, is cooler than those initials. I think nothing, that’s what.

I doubt that it is a big surprise that I’m what some may call a newbie blogger. I know, I know. Don’t let my calm, cool, and collected exterior fool you. I feel inadequate when I peruse other blogging sites, but I’m learning as I go with what free time I can muster up. However, I did want to take some time to say “Thanks!” to the creators of Blogging Zoom (Vic and Court) for the inspiration and motivation I now have to learn at a more rapid pace. In the following paragraphs and images, I will briefly explain how I have gained a bit of swagger (which I now call my gangsta lean - don’t worry, I had to look it up too) and how my stats have increased dramatically since signing up on Blogging Zoom.
Before BZ, I conducted a small time site knowing that I really didn’t know what in the world I was doing. I signed up for various social networking sites and saw some increase in hits. I somehow gained a handful of bloggers that would grace me with their occasional presence and I was greatly appreciative. I would putter around with visitors and would occasionally hit a hot topic that would give me a small peak in readership. That was until the realization of the importance of continual active social networking hit me. Blogging Zoom hit me and Rocked my World. I’ve been more involved with Blogging Zoom than any other social networking site out there. It’s fun, it’s easy, and fully interactive - and it actually benefits my website. Check out the following images of my Google Analytics and see if you notice something.
Before Blogging Zoom:
After Blogging Zoom:
Because of the amount of size distortion of the graphs, you may not be able to fully realize how big of mountains those are for me. The first image only shows double-digit visitors. The second has two giant peaks (at least for me) of 229 and 323 respectively. The valleys can actually be explained. The first is really still prior to signing up for Blogging Zoom. The middle is during a time when I had several tests to study for and I was getting a little backed up on my homework. The third is during the Thanksgiving holiday in which I was also moving to a new house so I was actually without internet service. My current trend is a steady increase day by day. For me, that is major performance that I had never experienced before.

It appears that BZers like to be entertained as my top 7 Zoomed articles are all humorous and intended to make people laugh. At the time of this post, I didn’t have any double-digit zooms so hopefully with my new dedication to social networking that will change in the near future. I have currently submitted 27 posts and 25 of them have gone hot. So it’s seems I’ve got a bit of steady mediocrity building up here. Next step is to get a few more on the Top Today section.
Blogging Zoom has already helped me gain a few more blogging “friends” as well. With school winding down for the semester, I’ve been able to be regular visitors on a few sites and they have reciprocated that with visits to my site. Gee, amazing how that works out. With that being said, I absolutely LOVE the Random Story link on the homepage of Blogging Zoom. Sometimes I’ll get really good ones, and sometimes I’ll get really bad ones - but it’s so much fun to see what pops up when I click it.
I’m really not telling many of you what you already didn’t know. What? Anyway, hopefully 1 or 2 of my 5 fans have not been using Blogging Zoom and now they will see its glory. I have also decided to use this post to unveil my new RSS FeedBox Icon that I found at snap2objects. Through Blogging Zoom, it became obviously apparent that the next step I needed to take to increase my readership was to make the ability to subscribe to my blog more available and visible. I hope you like it. I felt this design made the most sense with the theme I have chosen.
In closing, all I want to say is you gotta slow your roll, hook up with BZ, and show off that gangsta lean when the new visitors start pouring in. Word to your Mutha!

Did you enjoy this? Like it, love it, want some more of it?

That’s really cool. I think you’re experiencing the same kind of results that most other BZ users are experiencing. I bet you’ll see those numbers go up even higher once you’re able to spend even more time writing and promoting your site. Keep up the good work. Word.

Nice progress. Congrats! Yes, your RSS icon is much more viewable and I have subscribed it.

Thanks! I appreciate you commenting on my RSS icon - well, not mine, but the one I chose to use. It just made too much sense with the ThinkBox theme I’m using.

A redneck boy like me doesn’t know much about gangsta stuff, but I can understand what you’re talking about here!

That’s okay, I don’t know much about gangsta stuff myself either to be honest…
Wow, if anyone understands me, that puts you a step ahead of the rest. Thanks for stopping by!

Loved your title. It reminded me of an old song from the 70’s called “be thankful for what you’ve got” by William DeVaughn:

I’m also loving Blogging Zoom, and I’m excited to be able to use the BZ plugin with my new wordpress blog (about to go public).
Thanks Court and Vic!
