Lufthansa Airbus A320 Wingstrike Landing Attempt

    By Jeff | March 4, 2008

This video speaks for itself. From my brief research, and I do mean brief, it appears that this phenomenon has a name. Wind sheer. Correct me if I’m wrong. Anyway, you can obviously tell the wind is giving this plane and the pilot, no doubt, serious fits. And just when you think you’ve got everything under control… well, watch:

      Holy crap!

You know, a few weekends ago I went for a ride with two buddies in his little prop plane and when we landed here in Phoenix, there was some cross winds, and he did that whole sideways landing thing, although it wasn’t even CLOSE to as bad as this video…

But coming in at an angle is freaky.

I bet. As far as I know, I haven’t experienced anything like that.

I can’t imagine what it feels like. I heard reports that I couldn’t confirm at the time I posted it, but I heard that the airline held counseling for all passengers because it was so traumatic.

I think being on that plane would have put me off flying for quite a while. Wonder what the passenger cabin smelt like after it?
