American Idol Season 7 Cuts to 12 Finalists
By Jeff | March 11, 2008
American Idol Season 7 held their third elimination round on Thursday, March 6th, 2008. As was the case last week, two guys and two girls were scheduled to be eliminated. If you are keeping up with my contest with Jason of Pop Critics, then you know I currently hold a one contestant lead by correctly guessing five of the eight contestants that have been eliminated. That gave me a 62.5% accuracy rating.
There were definitely a few surprises (to me anyway), but I don’t have a problem with anyone that got cut. I was 2-for-2 as my gut feeling didn’t work this time like it did last week. It also looks like Jason redeemed himself as he correctly guessed 3 of the 4 that ties us back up with a 7-5 record (or a 58.3% accuracy rating). Our little side bet contest has been taken to a new level as there will be weekly ramifications for under-performing the other.
Well, if you look at the picture you’ll see that since I lost I had to post an embarrassing picture of me growing up since that was the chosen interview theme of this round of American Idol Season 7. I think it borderlines cute more than embarrassing, but it was the best I had. I may have to contact good ol’ Mom for more. If she is able to send me one that is more embarrassing, I will own up to this week’s loss and post it for the world to see. Did I mention how much I hate losing? Although, you have to admit that the shirt is sweet! I may have to re-create it. Anyway, let’s see who actually got sent home packing and crying.
Kady Malloy
This was a no-brainer. She should have been sent home weeks ago. It’s still sad though. She’s a beautiful girl and seems to have a great personality. There is no doubt she is talented, but I think her “talents” are more suited for men’s magazines rather than singing competitions. God bless her however. And I wish her continued success if she decides to use her “talents”. Men aged 16 to ?? were singing a quiet sad song when Kady was officially eliminated. This is a prediction that we guessed correctly.
Luke Menard
This was also a no-brainer. Luke could have easily gone home at any point during the competition and America has finally decided to give us a break from his whiny voice. And to that, I say, “Thank you very much!” Once again, it’s time to use the DVR fast forward for the exit performance. It was bad enough the first time. I don’t think I should have to endure it again. At least it is safe to say that we will no longer have to endure another Luke performance for the rest of this season (and hopefully ever). Luke is the second correct elimination prediction of the night.
Asia’h Epperson
This was my big surprise. Her performance this week was rough but even with that, this elimination was off of my radar. Even though I said she reminded me of a hoochie I used to work with, I thought her good looks and story of recently losing her father would carry her farther than this. I was wrong. I guess America doesn’t like hoochies as much as I thought they did. You know, for a girl singing about dancing with somebody, she sure can’t dance. I thought Ramiele would go home instead, but I doubt it will be much longer for her.
Danny Noriega
Hallelujah! Thank you America! Little did I know the foreshadowing I was doing when I decided to no longer show Danny’s face on my American Idol posts. As you can see, I didn’t stop that trend here as I have not liked this guy from day one. It has nothing to do with his “alleged” gayness. It had everything to do with his annoying behavior and his bad performances. Ding Dong the bitch is dead… oh wait, did I go to far? I thought he was actually stay in lieu of Chekezie, but this is one time where I was more than happy to be wrong. If lovin’ Danny is right, then let me be wrong every single time.
So there you have it. Kady, Luke, Asia’h and Danny go home and left several crying. OMG, for real people. This is a competition with only one winner. The loser can cry. It’s almost expected. Sometimes when you realize that your dreams are not going to come to fruition, a good cry on a nationally televised program can cure wonders - well, it will at least lay to rest any inclination of making it big. My issue is with the others crying. Do you see David Archuleta crying? Has Michael Johns shed a tear? Do you see Brooke White reaching for some tissue? No, you don’t.
This is a competition with only one winner (if you will allow me to repeat myself). If you are still in, you should be ecstatic that America has found you worthy. I can easily predict that any contestants that were crying will be eliminated. If you don’t have that killer instinct, then I can’t see you having the mental preparation that is needed to finish at the top when this is over. Brooke White is the only female that has a shot with male front runners David Archuleta, Michael Johns, and David Cook. David Cook has just become my dark horse, but he seems to be more impressive each week.
