G.I. Joe Movie - A Look at Ray Park as Snake Eyes

    By Jeff | March 26, 2008

Growing up in the 80s meant that when I got home from school, I grabbed a snack and a Capri-Sun and turned on the tv to watch the G.I. Joe cartoon series. G.I. Joe was a real American hero - or so it was advertised. At least that is what I thought I knew - and well, you know - knowing is half the battle.

I was so excited to hear when Transformers was getting made into a movie. I remember mentioning to someone that I hoped that G.I. Joe would be made as well. Little did I know that someone else, maybe even a many someones, had similar thoughts. G.I. Joe is coming to the big screen and Snake Eyes was my favorite character from the cartoon series. He was so hard to find as an action figure and I can’t even remember if I was able to ever get him. Still, my collection was ridiculous. I used to set up battle scenes in my closet with thread, homemade parachutes, and whatever else I could find around the house to position my figures. Then I would leave it up for days as a sort of battle scene masterpiece. Good times. Those were good times.

I had countless numbers of the action figures and vehicles. I had the command base for the good guys and the gigantic aircraft carrier. I had tanks and jeeps and planes. I couldn’t even begin to tell you all the G.I. Joe stuff I had. It would be lengthy and frankly, I wouldn’t be able to remember it all anyway. Nonetheless, I am just as excited about the new G.I. Joe movie as I was about Transformers and I’m glad to be able to post a first look photo of Ray Park as Snake Eyes. The picture alone only increases my desire to see this movie. I’m sure there will be some cheesy moments because you know the “knowing is half the battle” phrase is going to be included. But that just makes it fun.

Anyway, here is Ray Park (who was also Darth Maul from Phantom Menace in the Star Wars series) as my favorite character - Snake Eyes. Awesome!
