Thinkbox issues Fantasy Challenges for 2008

    By Jeff | August 26, 2008

Ah, it’s that glorious time of year again where yours truly immerses himself in all things fantasy football.  I annually participate in several fantasy football leagues and football games and I wanted to allow my readers to join me.  Last year I mopped the competition in the ThinkBox Salaray Cap Challenge hosted by The Sporting News.  However, I didn’t quite cut it in Survival Football hosted by Yahoo!  Anyway, if you’re game enough, here is the info you need to join me this year to see if you have what it takes to take down a fantasy pro.

    SALARY CAP FOOTBALL CHALLENGE LEAGUE!
ThinkBox has created a Salary Cap Football Challenge league and has invited you to join!

The rules are pretty simple.  You get to start out with $35 Million to spend on 2 Quarterbacks, 2 Running backs, 2 Wide receivers, and a Defense.  However, you’ll find out quickly that $35 Mil doesn’t last long in the professional football realm so you have to see if you can find the value picks to go along with your studs.  Last year, I was fortunate enough to work in Tony Romo and Tom Brady.  As you can probably guess, that combo was unstoppable.  You get three trades to begin with but you don’t actually start using those until the first game is played so you can change your beginning roster as many times as you want until you get it just right.  From then on, you get one trade a week (plus the trades that you haven’t used yet.)
Watch out for the bye weeks so that you don’t find yourself having to replace 4 players during a week when you only have 2 trades available to use.  Of course, that’s easier said than done.  So feel free to join me in my little game if you think you’ve got the goods to overtake - the ThinkBox Thunder!  If you join, let me know and I’ll link to your site when I give standings updates.

These rules are even simpler.  You simply pick one NFL team to win their game each week.  If that team wins, then you “survive” another week and move on to the next.  If that team loses, they you are eliminated from the contest and must wait until we have a winner and the contest will be restarted.  Last year, we played three times in one season.  The only catch is that you cannot choose the same team again in the same contest.

Anyway, good luck to any who accept this challenge, because frankly - you’re going to need it
